Gallery Tour – Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation
This exhibition of a selection of works from the Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Création brings together a number of significant large-scale works by European, American and Chinese artists. These reflect an energetic urban culture, leading to fictional landscapes located somewhere between dreams and adventure.
Artists include: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paul Chan, Cao Fei, Yang Fudong, Gilbert and George, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Christian Marclay and Richard Prince. Works by recognised and newly-discovered international artists working in the medium of video will also be shown.
In an open-minded spirit, the Foundation is eager to invite “emerging” Hong Kong artists to take part in this exhibition with the help of a young art critic who lives in China: Nadim Abbas, Lee Kit, Leung Chi Wo, Pak Sheung Chuen, Tsang Kin Wah, Adrian Wong and Doris Wong.

Lantau Island: Visit to two notable architectural projects
We will visit two notable recent architectural projects on Lantau Island, one of which has been awarded the 2007 HKIA Merit Award. The HKYWCA Conference Centre and Guesthouse successfully creates a “playground’ for the enjoyment of a true outdoor experience and also a seamless extension to the surrounding landscape and appreciation of the natural beauty of the site. It is also notable for having activity areas that are universally connected at multiple levels.
The Discovery College is the new Private Independent School by the English Schools Foundation. The open planning, landscaped terraces and roof-top gardens of the building integrate well with the beautiful natural environment. The prominent ETFE canopy provides shelter for outdoor activities. The School also integrates the requirements of the new curriculum with a Performing Arts Centre.
Our visit to both sites will be guided by the respective architects:
HKYWCA – Mr. Anthony Cheung (Associate Directors at Ronald Lu & Partners )
Discovery College – Mr. Winston Shu ( Principal of Integrated Design Associates - previously partner at Foster & Partners)
Lunch will be included in the canteen of HKYWCA.
