Gallery Tour of the exhibition “On the Shoulders of Classical Masters – A Special exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of Wu Changshuo”

Wu Changshuo is one of the great masters of late 19th - early 20th century Chinese painting from the Shanghai School. His style revolutionized Chinese painting by sweeping away delicacy and sentimentality. His paintings are vigorous and expressionistic, imbued with a mastery of calligraphy and knowledge of seal carving. The paintings in the exhibition come from the Zhejiang Provincial Museum and Xiling Seal Engravers Society which are considered the finest collections of the artist.
